19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an better serve.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 initial break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
